Great Holiday Reading

Standard

With the school holidays upon us, at least for those of us lucky enough to be school teachers or school students, it’s a perfect time to curl up in front of the heater, or in a sunny spot in the backyard with a good book. I know of four very good books, whose details you will find on this website, but I wanted to tell you what I’ll be reading these holidays.

The Conspiracy 365 Series, by Gabrielle Lord. This is a 12 part action/adventure/mystery series by one of Australia’s favourite crime writers. Each book tracks a month of Cal’s story. I am up to the July book. Fifteen-year old Cal Ormond is a hunted fugitive and has 365 days to uncover the truth about his father’s mysterious death and a history changing secret. Who can he turn to? Who can he trust when it seems the whole world wants him dead?

I am also reading The Hunger Games by American author Suzanne Collins. It is a three-part series set in a dystopian future where The Hunger Games – a reality TV show organised by the government- pits teenagers against each other in a battle to the death.

If I feel like something more girlie, I might re-read two of my favourite Young Adult novels:

Surf Ache by fellow Newcastle author Gerry Bobsien, tells the story of Ella – a ballet dancer from Melbourne whose world is turned upside down when her family move to the surf-obsessed city of Newcastle.

Saltwater Moons by Victorian author Julie Gittus tells the story of Sun’s journey towards maturity and of two young men whose deeply different yearnings tug them towards her. It’s a story of love and betrayal; about the ache that comes from constantly longing for the things we can’t have.

I’ll also be working on my latest novels – yes novels – and I will unveil details about them in the future.

Let me know what you have been reading. Happy holidays!

Lizzie
