    • Hi Greg
Have you been reading Extinction: The Day The World Ended to your class or did you get a class set? I’m always interested to know what other teachers are doing out there. I teach RFF (Art) at my school, so I have Year 2, 4, 5, 6 classes. They are loving it too. Thanks for your comment. Tell your kids about my website and to check out the book trailer for Extinction. It’s pretty powerful!
      Lizzie

      • Hi Lizzie,
I have read both of you amazing Extinction books and I’d love to know if there’s a 3rd!
        Katie

      • Hi Katie
There won’t be a third Extinction book published, but I did write a third which actually fits in between 1 and 2. I will put it up on this website soon, so subscribe to my blog (which I haven’t updated since January) and you’ll get it sent directly to you whn I do put it up there.
        Lizzie

      • Hey Lizzie i was wondering if you were going or already have made a movie for Extintion 1&2 because i absaloutely LOVE (<3) your Extinction books! 😀 Please Reply Thanx

      • Hi Coolmoshi100
I get asked that question so much and I really wish that I could tell you yes, but unfortunately there are no plans at the moment to turn Extinction into a movie. I wrote the story with a movie in mind, knowing how well the scenes would transfer well to screen. So if you could help me by getting in touch with any famous movie producers who just happen to be your dad or uncle I would really appreciate it! (:<3).
        kind regards
        Lizzie

      • i dont have the extinction book 2 but i read the 1st on it was amazing it took me one week to read it >_

      • Hi JAson
Thanks for loving my Extinction 1 book. You can still get Extinction 2 online, so maybe Santa could bring it for you??? Put it on your list and then tell me what you think. Merry Christmas

        Lizzie xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  1. Thanks for the reply Lizzie,
The boys bought the book at the Scholastic book fair and they really enjoyed it…I then had to read it to catch up and now I am reading it to the class…I teach year 5/6 split in SW Western Australia…

    • Hi Greg
You have inspired some of your students to post on my website. Thanks. They are loving the book. The students are Damian, Brayden, Aidan and Reef. Give them ‘A’s for English!
      Lizzie

      • Hi Lizzie,

I was wondering if you are going to make a 3rd Extinction book. I just can’t get enough! And I was hoping to know how you actually made the front cover, it’s awesome. And also, how did you think up of the bad guys in the book?

        From Katarina

      • I’d love to make a third book, and originally there was one (it fitted in between 1 and 2) where the kids had more difficulty achieving the mission and more complications with Rufus Keller, but my publishers decided a twin set worked well with the twins in the book. Maybe I’ll release sample chapters on this site over the next few months.
        Lizzie

      • The front cover was designed by Steve Wells at Scholastic. It’s awesome, isn’t it! The bad guy, Rufus Keller, and Dr Sinclair and all the others are just my imagination. Sometimes I draw on snippets of real life people and blend them together to create a unique character. Physical descriptions are the easy part. It’s trying to get inside their minds and discovering their motivations and what makes them tick that is tricky, but it’s like designing your own action figure doll or movie villain and that is the fun part.
        Lizzie

    • Hi Alice
Extinction2 The Explosive Conclusion, is already available! One of my students got it yesterday. So get down to your local bookstore or online bookstore. I hope you love it!
      Lizzie

      • Hi Lizzie,

How long did it actually take you write these fantastic books?
I would also like to thank you for writing it! It gave me a great imagination and also really inspired me!

        From Katarina

      • The series took over three years of thinking and writing, in between working part time and looking after my young daughter. I’m sure if I could do it full time I’d be faster!!!
        Lizzie

  2. Dear Lizzie,
Can I please have a free copy of Extinction 2: The Explosive Conclusion because I am your biggest fan and I love your books, especially Extinction:The Day the World Ended. Please Please Please.
Does Annie come back in the next one?

    • Hi Sophie
I am having a competition at the local libraries in Newcastle (NSW) to win a free copy of E2. You have to design an alternative cover for Extinction 2, using your knowledge of what happens in E1. The entries need to be submitted to the libraries involved. Competition closes at the end of August, so if you live in the Newcastle area, get down to New Lambton, Wallsend or City library and get the entry details. If not, Extinction 2 will be in your local bookshop or K-Mart at the beginning of August, or definitely at your online bookstore. Soem are listed on my website on the “Where To Buy” page. Good look at being one of the first time find out if Annie lives or dies.
      Lizzie

  3. Hi Lizzie, its Omar, I previously commented on extinction 1 as BioRapture, you said one of your students bought extinction 2, where did she buy it because i cant find it anywhere?

    Omar

    • Hi Omar
Extinction 2: The Explosive Conclusion is not “officially” released until August, but it just depends on when your local bookstore does their monthly orders. I know in Newcastle it is available at Maclean’s Booksellers, but it is also available at K-Mart. Plus all the online bookstores that I have listed on this website on the “Where to Buy?” page. Good luck at being one of the first to find out what happens.
      Lizzie

      • Hi Lizzie,

I’d like to know if I can get Extinction 2 from a library to borrow?

        From Katarina

      • Hi Katarina
It should be in a library by now. If not, best place to buy is your local independent bookstore, or online. I can’t seem to find it in K-Mart this time, like I could with the first one.
        Lizzie

  4. Did you know that you can win Extinction 1 on a show called Kitchen Wiz on NBN every week day at 4:00 I was really excited and shocked to find that out!!!!

    • Hi Molly
Welcome to my website! Yes, I knew about the Kitchen Whizz promo. It is really exciting! My publishers, Scholastic, are really promoting this series for me. Have you read Extinction2 yet?
      Lizzie

      • no i cant find it we went to k-mart yesterday and couldnt find it i was very angry. I dont know if mum and dad will take me to the bookshop in belmont???? it suck that it is sold out in nearlly EVERY k-mart around must be VERY popular!!!
        From Molly 😀

  5. OMG you are NOT going to beleive this but extinction book 2 is at my scools book fair! i am so first in line no matta wat! P.S lizzie, i dont go to your school but your still best author ever!!!!!!!!!!

    • Hi Bruno
I am so glad to hear that Extinction 2 is at your book fair. So many of my students are having trouble buying it because of the closure of most of our big chain bookstores. yes, you are lucky. Thanks for saying I am the best author. Let me know what you think of E2.
      Lizzie

  6. hey,
got extinction yesterday and finished it on the same day and i loved it so much i brought the next book and i finished that today but all my friends are asking, will there be a third book? hope so. and also extinction was at my book fair to.

    • Hi Michael
I am thrilled that you loved the series. Two books is all, unfortunately. Originally it was a trilogy, and the third book is written but my publishers changed their mind. The ending is still the same, but I had a whole lot of other adventures as the chosen ones battled with Rufus Keller in New York City, lost the elements, argued amongst themselves, and went into the future to see the world one year on from Extinction Day. I thought it was brilliant, but my publishers thought two books was enough. Maybe I’ll release the chapters on this website one day????
      Lizzie

  7. hey again,
the third book sounds great, i think it would be a good idea to post a few chapters on your website, or maybe even send the whole thing to me (its a longshot i know you couldnt send it all).

  8. hey lizzie its me again i finished the best book ever AKA extinction 2 about 5 minutes ago and WOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!!! its really awesome but a bit sad i wont tell why but still, best book ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Hi Bruno
Wow! Thanks for the glowing praise. I get goosebumps when my fans tell me things like that. It lets me know that I have hit the mark with my target audience. Tell all your friends!!!

      Lizzie

    • Hi Ashely
Thanks for saying my book is thrilling!! That thrills me to hear comments like that! I hope you have read the first one, as it all ties together in the end quite nicely. Tell me what you think when you get there.

      Lizzie

  9. hey master of the four earthly elements a few things 1 why do you want there to be 1 movie of extinction? 2 you should read the comments for the youtube vid and 3 how who and when did you make the trailer?

    from your #1 fan

    • Hey #1 Fan
Are you suggesting there should be two movies of Extinction? That would be awesome. One of the ways to get movie production companies to sit up and take notice is to spread the word, ie: tell all your friends to check out the youtube trailer. The more hits it gets, the more they’ll think it’s a phenomenom. Thanks for pointing me towards the comments. I hadn’t looked for a while. I didn’t make the trailer. My publishers hired a film student in Sydney to do it. She sourced all of the images and sounds from sites on the internet, paid the money for using them, and stitched them all together. Pretty amazing job, I think.
      Lizzie

  10. Hi lizzie,
i have read it and is coming to book week as Deli (because she is the only girl with blonde hair should be fun!) I really think there should be 1 or 2 movies on Extinsion sorry about the spelling. It is the best book ever and I ♥ how they stop the extinction in Ireland that was pretty awesome.
    From Molly
P.S if you could have a earthly element what would it be??????

    • Hi Molly
I would be fire because I am an Aries star sign which is also a fire sign. Plus I have a firey temper, but a warm heart. And I am a cold frog. I hate winter, so if I could warm thigs up all that time, that would be pretty cool (or hot!) What would you be?
      Lizzie

      • I would by water because when me and keely went to Lambton Pool I could hold my breath under water for ages and I love the ocean and the ice so thats why i would by water!
        From Molly

    • Hi Molly,

Well the element i would be is… fire. I have a distinctive membory of when I was little, I looked at the candles and they blew out… Creepy but true. I also remember when I touched fire and it didn’t burn me at all! Again, creepy stuff.

      From Katarina

  11. Woah, it was really good. I couldn’t put it down- I’d be reading till around 11.30 or after, even though I was super tired. It was just, amazing. I wish there were more books although.
Just one question, where did you get the inspiration for the books? I mean, it doesn’t sound like something you’d just get off the top of your head 🙂 LOVE IT!
My friend and I were saying, if Extinction 1 & 2 was a movie, we’d be first in line to watch it!
PLEASE, try and get in touch with some people who can (hopefully) make the books a movie! I’d be really happy!

    Thanks, Sam.

    • Hi Sam
I’m glad you like the Extinction series. The initial inspiration came when my husband and I went for a really long walk along a beach up near Yamba and we didn’t see another single person all day. As we were walking back to our campsite that night, I wondered if something had happened to the human race and we were spared for some reason. The idea grew from there. I liked the idea of having a connecting symbol throughout the book that would provide clues, so that’s where I got 8 from – 8 kids, 8 naturally occurring places. Originally I even had 8 elements and 8 different powers but my editors thought that might be a bit confusing so we paired them up. All of the other ideas just flowed from needing a solution to each little complication the twins encountered.
If you know of any movie production companies, send them to my website to start talking movie deal!!! My publishers might be doing this for me, I hope.
      Lizzie

    • Hi Jesse
Yes, it’s a real problem trying to find Extinction 2. I don’t know why. But you should be able to find it on the internet book store sites. Check out the list on my site at the top of the page under the “Where To Buy” tab. Good luck and let me know waht you think of it. I’m sure you’ll love it.
      Lizzie

  12. Hi Lizzie,

I just loved your first book on “Extinction”! I am certain to get the second book as soon as possible. I just love the idea of a movie! It will thrill everyone to the bones! Wow what a nice time I had reading this book. But I quite surprised with the ending! And it did make me laugh and giggle at times.
The person I would feel sorry for the most is Annie (Anenome). 🙂

    • Hi Katarina
Thanks for your comment. I’m glad you saw the funny side of the book. I always like to put humour in my stories. And yes, Annie is the one I feel most sorry for as she seems to be carrying the weight of the world (the future of the human race) on her shoulders and Mac is not always as worried about it as she is. But mac is a great character, and he’s the one you get the most laughs from. I bet you have an annoying brother your self, Katarina.

  13. Hi Lizzie!
It’s Jane here, and i want to tell you I HAVE FINISHED reading Extinction book 2 the explosive conclusion! I loved it soooo much!!!! I really liked the ending! It was an epic book! When I was reading through the book, i really loved how you join all the clues together and reveal it at the end. When i finally found it in the bookstore “QBD”, I was so overjoyed and determined to read it! I wish you could write another book of extinction! IT’S SO GOOD!

P.S- I didn’t realize the Chosen ones were octuplets and their real parents were weird and funny 🙂
This time, the ending was so great! I’m still trying to persuade my friends to read the books! 🙂

  14. Hi, i have read the first book in this series and loved it, am looking everywhere for the next one but can’t find it anywhere. I hope you do end up posting chapters of your planned middle story and can’t wait to read the conclusion

    • Hi Jordan
Have you found Extinction 2 yet? If not, it should be in Scholastic’s Book Club before Christmas. That’s the one that comes to your school if you’re in primary school. If you’re in high school, you won’t be able to get it through that. Try online stores if your parents allow you. Good luck.
      Lizzie

  15. hey liz i realy don’t know what earthly element i am but i think i’m either air or water because my eyes change from grey to blue and its realy creepy!!!!!!! anyway when is your next planet destroying book coimg out in oz? thanks and they should totaly make a giant satatue of you cuz look how many people you have commrntig! until next time seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

    • Hey Bruno
Thanks for the support. My daughter’s eyes change from grey to blue. It’s not really creepy, but it could be useful one day if you’re a wanted criminal and they’re looking for someone with blue eyes and you change yours. ha!
My next planet destroying book? I’m waiting to hear back from my publishers. I’ll let you know.
      Lizzie

  16. Hi Lizzie,
Do you know if we have the extinction 2 in our school library because if we do can you tell me as soon as you can.
    OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just finished extinction and its sooooooooooooooooooooo fantastic and i can’t wait to find out what happens to Annie.
Where did you come up with Annie and Mac’s real names??
Please answer these questions as soon as you can!!!

  17. Hi Keely
Yes, our school library has Extinction 2. I got the names for all of the kids in my story from a baby names website. I knew I needed Greek names and Gaelic names (for a reason you will discover in book 2), so I searched for ones that meant water, wind, fire and earth. There were lots to choose from so I just chose the ones I liked.
    Enjoy!
    Lizzie

    • Hi Connor
Thanks for your message. Whay can’t you believe I’m a teacher??? Teachers can be awesome and creative, hard to believe, I know. lol.
Not sure if my books are in your spring book fair. If it’s a Scholastic Book Fair, then they definitely will be.
      Lizzie

  18. hey lizzie, i was wondering that if extinction gets made into the best movie in the whole universe that they should make other stuff to get more people reading the epic books like a video game or something anyways gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Hi Bruno
That would be awesome, wouldn’t it??? Do you know how to make video games? Maybe you could be on the consulting team, or the team that trials the game to see if kids like it. Wouldn’t that be the coolest gig for a kid??
      Lizzie

  19. Omg I love this series I got the the first as a prize on kitchen whiz and I loved so much that I brought the second book and read over and over again

    • Hi Random Girl
Thanks for your comment. I loved Kitchen Whiz! What a great show! I watched it often, just to have the thrill of seeing my book given away as a prize. Silly, I know. But thanks for loving the series. Tell all your friends. Have you checked out the Extinction trailer? It’s on this site and at youtube by typing in “Extinction Series Lizzie Wilcock”. If it gets enough hits then movie producers will sit up and take notice.
      Lizzie

  20. Hey Lizzie,

These are the best books I have evr read! These book should DEFINENTLY be made into a 2 part movie. You should contact people to talk about it coz it would be an absolute EPIC movie. And if I could, would play Kyla.

I hope that you keep creating books because you are and amazing writer. So keep on writing!
I really hope to see extinction become a movie.

    Love SInead. 🙂 xoxo ❤

    • Hi Sinead
Thanks for your comment. Yes, I really think the books would make a great movie. My publishers say it takes time to get movie production companies interested. Have you checked out the youtube book trailer? It’s awesome. It’s on this site. Or you can just go to youtube and type in Extinction Series by Lizzie Wilcock. Check it out and send it to all your friends. The more hits it gets, the more likely movie companies will take notice. That’s great that you’d like to play Kyla. How did you relate to her in some way? Are you into the environment and caring for animals, or do you have a super-intelligent brother?
I will definitely keep on writing. I love keeping my fans like you happy, and I love making up stories and seeing where they go.

      Lizzie

  21. hey liz if the universes best book gets made into a movie who would you want to play who? and also do you have any more info bout your new book? anyways until armageddon see ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Hey Bruno
Wow, the best book in the universe? That’s a big call, but thanks so much. I think I would like the actors to be new comers, not any one we’ve seen in Home and Away or Neighbours. And I would definitely want them to be 14, not a 20 year old pretending to be 14. I think Nicole Kidman could be Dr Sinclair, as she has the red hair and freckles and is about the right age. Who knows, if you’re into acting and it becomes a movie, it could be you!!

  22. Hi again Lizzie, Sinead here,

i watched the book trailer and it looked so cool! I’m letting my friends borrow my two books so they can have a read of them and hopefully they will love it as much as I did! I think I relate to Kyla the most because I really love animals ( Especially the giraffe, meerkat and snow leopards! ) and I live and an environment full of many types of flowers, trees and plants. I have two brothers and three sisters but my brothers are a bit to young to understand science yet. 🙂 I was also reading some of the above comments and I have a question for you :
When your books were origionally going to be a triology and there were 8 different elements, what were those 8 different elements?

    Have a good day,
    From Sinead. xoxo

    • Hi Sinead
Sounds like you live in a beautiful place. Is in in Australia? That’s a tough question about the 8 elements now. I would have to look back through my early notes, but I git the entire 8 from the Chinese earthly elements, so you can google that and probably come up with them. Good luck, and that is a really great question, so thanks!
      Lizzie

  23. Hey Lizzie,

I do live in Australia! In NSW actually. I have to say, it is an amazing place. I was also wondering, out of all of the octuplets, who do you think you relate to the most?
Anyways, I’m going to look up those elements on Google. Thanks for being such a nice person. 🙂

    From Sinead. ❤

  24. hey ruler of the bookworld if the best books get made into movies can we somehow get hugh jackman in there? hes my favourite actor beacause hes a good old aussie like and hes in the xmen films which i love beacause marvels awesome and also to get people to notice the books i think you should get somone to make a page bout you and your wicked books on wikipedia and is extinctiononly sold in oz? anyway ggggggggggggggoooooooooooooooooddddddddddddddbbbbbbbbbbbbbyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Hi Bruno
Hugh Jackman is awesome. He could play the part of Travis Banks, who helps the kids in Gumbuu Wildlife Reserve, or the evil Dirk Van Houd, who covers the kids with sheep blood and leaves them to the lions. He could be Rufus Keller, but then his gorgeous face would have to be covered up the whole time. If it gets made into a movie, I will tell them to consider you, Bruno, for the part of Mac.
      Lizzie

  25. hey liz sorry bout the confusion of my last comment it was meant to be is extinction ONLY sold in oz? and hes a good old aussie LIKE ME anyway soz bout that tell me bout ant news until then bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Hi Bruno
Extinction is sold in online bookstores, so it is available world wide, I think. But the Aussie companies would have to send the book from here, as it is not stored in overseas warehouses, except for NZ. Byyyyeeeeeee!

  26. Hey Lizzie

I finshed extinction 2 it was sooo good is there going to be another one i hope there is because i think you can write another one because your so good at writing books so please write another one i love you so much

    Love Airlie xoxox

    • Hi Airlie
I would so love to write Extinction 3. I have all of the ideas as to where the story would go. Unfortunately my publishers think the story stands better as a 2 part series. Oh well. I’ll just have to write something else to keep my fans like you happy.

      Lizzie

  27. hey lizzie me again, just wanted to say that im that the movie will be changed a little because most boovies (book turned into a movie)change a bit because apparently if the movie is the same as the book then theres no point of seeing it! but i think the books are totally awesome just the way they are.Anyways next time, bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Hey Bruno!!!!
I have never heard the term “boovie” before. What a great word. I think the movie of Extinction would have to have special effects, where the kid’s powers are much more enhanced. That tends to be a big hit in Hollywood. Anything to get more kids watching it is fine with me!!!

      Lizzie

  28. i borrowed the book 1 from my friend erika and i finished it in under an hour
i wish that there were lots of movies made

    • Hi Lauren
You finished Extinction 1 in under an hour! That must be a record. I like to savour books. When I am really enjoying a book, I force myself to stop and re-read favourite parts or to just think about what has happened and what might happen next. But I guess when I was your age I did it like you did – impatient to get to the end. But I always enjoyed reading favourite books again and again and each time discovering little clues or subtle jokes that I missed the first time around. I hope you will re-read Extinction at some stage too. I would hate to think that you missed anything.

      Lizzie

  29. why does there have to be an open ending???!!!
i just wanted to read forever +_)(*&^%$#@!!@#$%^&*()_+1234567890-==-0987654321

    • Hi Lauren
An open ending leaves you hanging for the next book. I hope you find it and read it soon. Extinction 2: The Explosive Conclusion. Let me know what you think of it.
      Lizzie

  30. Hi, really loved the first book of the series, read finished it in a couple of hours, just wondering if the 2nd book is out already? i’de love to see how it ends ^^

    • Hi Emma
You read Extinction 1 in a couple of hours? Wow. I like to savour books, or at least re-read them at a later date to see what I may have missed the first time through. Extinction 2 is definitely out and I’m sure you will looove it. Let me know what you think. It’s great to have fans.

      Lizzie

  31. Hi I live in Victoria i just finished E1 today and Im like well that wasn’t complete and then i found out about E2 where can i find it?
I got #1 from my local libary.

    Thanks in advance Azza

    • Hi Azza
It’s great to know where my fans come from. Yep, there’s two parts to Extinction. The second part wraps things up in bizaare and entertaining ways. I hope you love it!

      Lizzie

    • Hi Azza
Yes! Somneone should. Check out the book trailer on youtube or the link on this site. Send the link to your friends. The more hits it gets, the more likely movie producers will sit up and take notice. So spread the word!!!
      Lizzie

  32. Hi Lizzie,
I read your Extinction books and I really enjoyed reading them. I am doing a project for school on Extinction and this is how I found your site.
My favorite character is Mac and my favourite part is when they find out they are octuplets. I have told all my friends at school about your books and how much I have enjoyed reading them. I would love it if they were made into a movie.
I really like adventure books like Percy Jackson & Harry Potter and Extinction is like them.
Is your next book going to be another adventure book like Extinction?
    Darcy

    • Hi Darcy
Please tell me about this project you are doing. Did you get to choose your own book for it? What do you have to do for it? I am really interested because I am a teacher and I might get my kids to do a project on it too. So you like Mac!!! He was a fun character to write. I loved his wisecracks and mistakes but especially how he was so loyal and loving to Annie. Annie is my favourite character and I guess that’s why she tended to take over the series a bit. She is a lot like me – organised, a leader, a thinker and problem solver, but someone who makes mistakes too. I think kids can relate to both characters.
My next book is . . . undecided. I have so many ideas. I’m just waiting to see which ones my publishers like best.

      Lizzie

      • Hi Lizzie,

The project was to design a book jacket for a book of your choice that you have read or are reading. We do a different project on a book each week. Other projects we have done are to write an author’s biography, a book review, character profiles and rewrite a scene in a book from a different character’s perspective. That is my favorite sort of homework because I like to read so much.
I like my teacher at school but it would be pretty cool to have one of my favorite authors as my teacher.
I can’t write books and I wish I could but I can illustrate books that my friends write.

Thanks for writing back to me. I will look out for your next book.

        Darcy

  33. Hey Lizzie It’s Zeke from school.
    I’m enjoying extinction very much.
You should teach us how to do some really cool artwork that has something to do with the elements.
    See at school tomorrow bye.

    Zeke

    • Hi Zeke
I am so glad that you are reading Extinction. I love the idea about doing some artwork about the elements. I think that is a great idea. Thanks for the suggestion. I hope you are enjoying your holidays. I am busy marking all your work and preparing new activities for Term 2. It’s going to be even better and busier than term 1, with a few surprises too!!

      Lizzie

  34. hi lizzie me again sorry for not commenting for a while but if extinction gets made into a movie, who would you want to be the director and producers? so until apocalypse, sssssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Hi Bruno
I don’t know any directors or producers, but I guess I would like a producer with heaps of money so that the movie can have all the special effects as the kids use their powers. Can you imagine earthquakes and fires and thunderstorms appearing instantly? It would be soo coool.
      Lizzie
P.S. Do you know anyone called Chris McBurnie? You sound a lot like him.

  35. hey lizzie wondering if there would be a movie on extinction 1 and 2??? would love if there was a movie P.S I LOVE UR BOOKS EXTINCTION AND EXTINCTION 2 and could u post those chapters ? will be looking every day because ur books are THE BEST

    From Luke

    • Hi Luke
Ahhhh! The chapters that fit in between. Yes, Ii did mention those a while back. I am currently on holidays but when I get back I will find them on my memory stick and post them on this site. I had totally forgotten, so thanks for reminding me. Please be patient for a few weeks.

      Lizzie

  36. i am 11 and you would not stop talking about a website in this book series is it real? and if it is not u should make one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Hi Bishop (Bruno)
Chris McBurnie is an old friend of mine who likes to play tricks on me, so I thought you might be him, disguised as a teenage boy. I am currently doing Extinction with my class and when I finish, I will post the chapters from Book 3. I don’t want to spoil things for them, as I want to show them first. SO check this site in about August.
      Lizzie

  38. hi lizzie, I’ve heard rumours of a third extinction coming out and just wanted to make that definant! if you are please get it done ASAP because i LOVE the books!!! thanks Tom 🙂

  39. The first book is great can’t wait till I get the second book for the series I read the book in two days.

    • Hi Jack
Welcome to my fan club. Where are you from? I always like to see where my fans come from. Thanks for taking the time to find this site and leave a comment. Let me know what you think of the second book.
      Lizzie

    • Hi Hope.
I would sooo love to make a movie of Extinction 1 and 2 but I am an author, not a movie maker. We need to let them know about Extinction. One way to do that is to check out the book trailer on youtube. Type in “Lizzie WIlcock Extinction Series”. The more hits the traielr gets, the more movie producers will sit up and take notice. SO get all your friends to do it too. Send them the link. If it gets made into a movie I promise free movie passes to all my fans who helped.

      Lizzie

    • Hi Jack
Good to see that you are careful about giving out that sort of info. I really just wanted to know what state in Australia. I don’t think I have any Tassie fans yet.Or any from ACT or Northern Territory. But if you’re from any of the others, that’s cool too. I live in Newcastle, NSW.

  40. hey liz and yes you do have a fan from the ACT, me! ive been living here for ages! just tellin ya so until december 2012 au revoir!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Hi Lollipop
You can buy them from most online bookshops, and sometimes you can order them in at Borders. Check the list of online bookshops in the “Where to Buy”tag at the top of the screen on the homepage of this site.Good luck
      Lizzie

    • Hi Joe
I am glad you liked the Extinction series. Lots of plot twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat. What else have you been reading? My Year 5 class are so into The Hunger Games at the moment.I really wish that a movie producer would turn my books into a movie!
      Lizzie

  41. I read both books they’re cool. As I read from hope I’ll try and get movie producer to try and make the MAGNIFICENT books (Extinction 1+2) to a movie.

    Your sincerely,
    And fan,
    Vincent

    • Hi Vincent
Sorry for my late reply to your fan post. Thanks for thinking my Extinction Series is cool. Yes, they would make a magnificent movie, so if you know someone in the business . . . But what do you mean that I havent finished the ending for book 2?
      Lizzie

    • Hi Blayze01
Extinction 2: The Explosive Conclusion, can be bought from any online book store, or ordered in through your local bookshop. Try Booktopia or Fishpond. I hope you enjoy it!

      Lizzie

    • Hi Omar
I would dearly love for my Extinction books to be made into a movie. I think the scenes would be awesome, with special effects at the kids use their powers. And the ending with the comet would be explosive! But unfortunately there are no plans in the pipeline for them to be made into a movie. But who know? It just takes one movie producer to see the potential. So fingers crossed that it may happen one day. Thanks for loving my books.
      warm regards
      Lizzie

    • Hi Liam
If I told you whether Annie died, then that would spoil your first chapter of Extinction 2. It’s what’s called a cliff hanger ending and is designed to make readers rush out and buy (or borrow) the next book. So I hope you get your hands on one soon. Let me know how you like it.

      warm regards
      Lizzie

  42. Hey Lizze
I love the extinetion books once I started reading it when I got it the book was amazing It would be the best movie ever and and I’m waiting to get the second one and see what happens to Annie

    • Hi Riley
I would love to make them into movies, but I don’t have the cash or the connections in the movie industry. Do you? Let me know and I’ll see what I can do. They would definitely make a cool movie.

      Lizzie

    • Hi Wozaila
No, there is not a third book in the series. I started working on one but my publishers were not interested. I hope you find some other cool books to read over the school holidays.

      Merry Christmas

      Lizzie

    • Hi Ahmad
Are you in Alice Springs yet? If so, I hope you are settling in well. If not, then I hope you are enjoying your final days in Newcastle. I will miss you and I will read your mini novel often to remind me how wonderful you are, and what an amazing journey you and your mum are on.

      Lizzie

  43. Hi Lizzie

i’m Millie, i’m year 7 and i live in NZ.
i’m just wondering if there is or will be a movie of Extinction because i love the book and think it would look incredible in a movie
    please, please, please reply

    Millie

    • Hi Millie
It’s so nice to receive your comment. Sorry I haven’t replied, but I have been on holidays, not to NZ unfortunately. It’s on my bucket list. It looks so beautiful in all the movies I see. It would certainly make an ideal location for some of the scenes from my Extinction series, even though my characters never actually go to NZ. But I am dreaming. NO, there is no movie and no plans for one. But I receive many comments asking if it will be made into a movie. I wish I had a contact in the business to send all these movie requests to and then something might happen. So if you know of a producer or director . . .

      kind regards
      Lizzie

  44. yes I am Mrs Beck , I have skipped a grade and I am going To St Phillips college. I am coming to Sydney for the test, I might to Newcastle so I might come to NLPS to pay u and my friends. I will talk to later.
    Kind Regards
    Ahmad Talal

    • Hi Ahmad
It would be lovely for you to drop in and visit. I hope you are keeping in touch with some of your friends from NLPS. We all miss you. Your Oracle is at the school and the office staff want an address where they can post it to you. Can you please give me one or contact the school directly? Tell me more about Alice Springs and where you are living. And of course, about your new school. I hope you are happy and making new friends.

      kind regards

      Mrs Beck

  45. I will make sure my mum gives the school the address by email! And the school is pretty big we have to walk to and from one end to go to lessons. We can say it is as big as John hunter hospital. I didn’t realize that skipping a grade would be such hard work. I have learnt a lesson from this. As the studies around NT are low , I know most of the maths and am doing better in English. Also we are staying in hospital accommodation. People around are friendly. This place has a really good. Things around here aren’t cheap or fresh.

    Talk to you soon
    kind regards
    Ahmad Talal

  46. hi, even though you may not think that making a third one to come after extinction2 is valuable, it is and I cant stop reading. I love these books

    • Hi Shell
Thanks for loving my books. What do you think would happen in Extinction 3? Give me some ideas and I might present them to my publisher. I did ask them a few years ago about a third and fourth book. I had the idea that the human race would de-evolve (go backwards in development terms) because of the elements that were now part of the DNA makeup of each person. This meant that the kids started turning reptilian and the rest of the world would follow if they didn’t find out a way to stop it. Sounds silly now that I think of it. Ha!

      Lizzie

  47. Hi lizzie if you make an extinction 3 would it be Gould for Annie sword to come back to life or something, and then they time travel to the future in the excact moment the flash happened

  48. Hey there Lizzie,
It’s been a while since I’ve commented. (I was dk233 if you remember me)
I’ve re-re-read your “extinction” series again and re-read the “deleted scenes” again.
I do recall you mentioning work on a fantasy novel in 2014 – I would love to know how thats coming along. Also, if your stuck for ideas on an Extinction 3 and 4, I can think of a few off the top of my head.

Following direct events of Extinction 2, Mac and Annie reveal it was them in the book “Time Travellers” And they instantly get popular. However, after the first few chapters of glory, the trouble starts. The chemical makeup spread across the world in Extinction 2 starts to slowly evolve. As in, other animals (or humans) have “absorbed” the chemical makeup which has started giving them some crazy new abilities contains the 4 classic elements. How will the team of 8 stop this? Could they possibly go back in time again to try to stop conquerer? A war? Another cataclysmic event? Maybe even someone trying to cause another form of extinction? Just an idea, and if you DO like it, i would love to go into more detail with you. #YoungWriters

    • Hi Luke
Of course I remember you – one of my greatest fans. And if you have re re read Extinction then you are definitely at the top of that list. I really should blog more to keep my fans up to date with my next novel. It is called “Thirst” and will be out later this year. I am not sure the exact month yet. We are still doing a final edit and have just begun the process of cover design, etc. It’s not a fantasy story but a survival story about two runaways hiding and trying to survive in the Australian desert.
I totally love your ideas for continuing the Extinction series. The eerie thing is that your ideas are kind of like the ones I proposed to my publishers three years ago. My idea was that after Annie and Mac return to their home (after being in Ireland in the 1800s and changing the chemical makeup of humans through the explosion of the comet), the final explosion of Octavian starts to destabilise the chemical makeup that humans had had in their bodies for the past 150 years. As a result Annie and Mac (and the other octuplets) begin to de-evolve. That is, their bodies begin to go backwards in evolutionary terms, but not like prehistoric man. They begin to grow webbing between their fingers and scales and if this is not stopped, the human race will soon be reptilian, fishlike creatures with primitive brains. My publishers hated the idea, and after reading your much improved take on this, I can see why they would. Your idea is heaps better. You really do have an amazing imagination, Luke. My publishers are not interested in Extinction anymore (it didn’t make enough money for them so they move onto the next thing), but perhaps you could work your ideas into a story of your own in the future.
I feel so flattered that you loved my story enough to reread and think of such a brilliant plot for a follow up series. Keep an eye on this website and I promise I will let my fans know more about my upcoming novel.
      Stay cool,

      Lizzie

  49. Hey Lizzie,
Its a bummer that your producers aren’t following Extinction, I would of loved to see it as a movie. But its still ok, I have another cool book to read! (Thirst) Thank you for the compliments on my ideas 🙂
Also, when your new book comes out, I might give a copy to Melina Marchetta. 😀
Talk to you soon! Awaiting your new book/s!

    – Luke

  50. Hi again lizzie! It’s been ages but I’d like to know whether Thirst will be a series and if so how many books? Or will It be a sole novel? So many other questions that I have to ask! Anyway, heaps excited for Thirst and can’t wait!

    • Hi Bruno
Thanks for being such a fan. Thirst is a solo novel. It is a real adventure survival story, with two unforgettable main characters. I still haven’t got a firm publication date from my publishers. Hang in there. WHen I know I will post a message on my blog.
      warm regards

Hi guys!!! This isn’t going to say much because my name pretty much sums it up!!! XD

    • Hi Naseem
Are there any in your local or school library? Sorry about the cliff hanger, but it’s a good one, isn’t it. If you can’t fin it in your library you may have to try to find one in some online bookstore. I really don’t want you to be angry for too long. Let me know how you go. I am sure you will love part 2.

      Lizzie

  52. Hi I am mitchell
Lizzie I would like to thank you for making my life for filled by making the extinction book I have read both books 3 times in the last 6 months but since 2011 I have read it about 10 times and I still love it it never gets old and I was wondering if you could consider making this a movie because I am sure every one would love that it would be my life wish but if you can’t make the movie it is still ok because I can keep reading the books over and over again

    Thank you Lizzie wilcock
    Happy new year for 2015

    • Hi Mitchell
You sure are a big fan of my Extinction series! 3 times each in the last six months, and ten times all up! I am impressed. You could probably recite it from heart, word for word.
I am currently reading the series to my eight year old daughter, so it is nice for me to be reliving my novels too. Many kids want the books to be made into a movie and I think it would make an awesome movie, complete with all of the travelling to different locations, and the special effects.
I don’t have the power to turn books into movies, unfortunately. And neither do my publishers. But I am always looking out for movie production companies who are looking for new ideas for their next project. So if you know anyone in the business, let’s get this project happening! Thanks for being such a great fan. I have a new book called “Thirst” coming out in May this year. I hope you will like it.

      Lizzie

  53. Hi lizzie I’ve been obsessed with these books since sixth grade in 2012 my teacher had them and I sat next to book shelf I read them over and over all year I eventually took them home and have had them ever since. I recently lost the second one and keep reading the first one over and over when ever I can . I was just wondering what inspired you to write these amazing books
    Xox~Tayla

    • Hi Tayla-jade
I’m glad you like the Extinction series. The initial inspiration came about eight years ago when my husband and I went for a really long walk along a beach up near Yamba and we didn’t see another single person all day. I have always loved time travelling books and this was my opportunity to play with that concept.

      Lizzie

  54. About 3 weeks ago I found this at my school library. Usually there books are so BORING so I thought this was good, left it on my shelf for 2 weeks ( as I thought it was another boring one) and decided to read it. After reading it in half an hour, I decided that I was 100% wrong and ran to the computer to see if there was a sequel. ( first thought what?!? There’s 1 book and this is the ending?!?’ ) I was extremely excited and ran to the bookstore next door. No luck. I’ve been to 11 bookstores and 13 free library sites. ( I hate ordering things because I have to be patient) tomorrow I going on a 4 hour drive to find it. I know it’s really late to comment, but boom sellers are saying it’s too old. I’m like no. This is way better than silly twilight, yet it’s still popular. This would make an amazing movie- I know people would be annoying you asking that if it would be… But some boring books are made into movies. I reckon the book should have came in an 8 pack ( it would take agggggeees) Annie and Mac my favourite characters 1) my names Annie, and because their so kind and protective over each other . I love how Mac tried to save her from the lioness and Annie’s last words to make, and when she felt sick thinking about her parents and Mac hugged her. Lol, a lot to write. Sorry about this. I hope I find this book. Urgently. I don’t like lions. Stupid lion. Why couldn’t it kill someone else?! 😭 Don’t get me wrong, this is the best book I’ve ever read. And I have a passion for writing books and I study Drama. and my uncles a Hollywood producer and my acting teacher is a potato. I mean director. So if it’s not too late, there’s a big chance! I love the two books do much

    • Hi Annie
Wow! I am so thrilled by your email! It’s good to know that Extinction is still being read, even though it is now 5 years old. Better than Twilight! That is a huge wrap! I know that Extinction 1: The Day the World Ended is now out of print, but you should still be able to buy Extinction 2: The Explosive Conclusion by ordering it through bookshops, or by ordering it online.
So many of my fans say it would make a great movie, AND I TOTALLY AGREE! I wrote the series with MOVIE screaming in my head. I tried to make it as visual as possible, with lots of action, travel to exotic places, special effects through using their powers, humour, and emotion (between Annie and Mac). I had a friend who was working on a script for it, but he is too busy with work. The main problem with getting a book made into a movie is money, and knowing a producer who believes in your work. I have neither. So if you have some contacts in the industry, Annie, I would be so thrilled to have you send these two books to your uncle (or I can send them to him, so that you don’t have to pay) and we could get this happening. So you are an actor too? Perhaps you could be my Annie in the movie?????? If you can’t get your hands on a copy of Extinction 2, let me know and I could post you one (for a postage and small fee). Enjoy the final days of your school holidays (if you are in the Southern States). I am a school teacher in NSW and I plan to use Extinction 1 with my class this term as a literature study, so I a excited to be reconnecting to one of my favourite stories.

      warm regards, Annie.

      Lizzie

    • Hi Matt
Thanks for loving Extinction 2. 24 hours is amazing. I am proud of this book, as it the most interesting and travels to the most places (and times), thus driving the reader to keep going. What else do you like reading?

      warm regards
      Lizzie

  55. Hi are you making a movie because E1 was really good can I have a free copy of number 2 because i can not find it or tell me where to get it from thx.
    Aydin

    • Hi Aydin
A friend of mine is actually working on the screenplay of Extinction, so who knows, it might become a movie yet. Extinction 2 is hard to get. It is now out of print, but I purchased some copies (yes, authors have to buy their own books!). On top of the cost (I sell them for $10) there is the postage, which is about $9, so if you would like one, let me know and I will tell you how we can organise this.

      Lizzie

  56. hi there ive read both of your books tis would make a great movie i hope your friend a good luck with the screenplay i am gonna send a fan drawing soon it is what the octopulets would look like in my opnion

    • Hello
Unfortunately both Extinction 1 and 2 are out of stock everywhere, and I don’t have any more copies to sell at the moment. There is a possibility of it being re-released in the near future, so watch this space.

      warm regards

      Lizzie
